Form Template Export-Import

Form Template Import and Export provides a facility for users assigned with Form Creator role to export and import form templates to and from a file. Export and import facility is typically used for archiving or transferring form templates between different environments or portals.


This image provides an overall navigation layout of the Form Template Export/Import screen. Each of the available functionalities is described in detail below




Export a form template


· In the Export Form Template list, select a form template. This list includes all the available form templates for the portal.


· Click on Export link button to export the form template.


· Save the file to a location in your hard drive




TIP: When a form template is exported or imported the following data are included:


· Form Template Layout
· Custom Form Roles
· Workflow States
· Workflow Steps
· Field localization
· Any assigned sub/child forms


The following data are not included:


· Captured form data
· Reports Template




Import a form template


· Click on the Browse button to select a form template file from the hard drive


· Check the "Generate New Field ID.." property if new IDs are required to be re-created for each imported field. Note when new field IDs are created, references from Javascript functions or SQL stored procedure are lost. This may prevent the form template from functioning properly


· Check the "Reset Version" field if the current version of the Form Template is required to be reset to version 1.0. If this option is not selected the current version of the Form Template is retained in the import process


· Click on the Import link button to import the form template to the system


TIP: When a form template is imported its initial state is "In Development" and locked by the user imported the form template. If importing within the same environment/portal custom form security roles and associated assignments are also imported, however, importing across different portals does not guarantee all custom form security roles and associated assignments will be imported.
